Route Description for Founder’s Grove Nature Trail
The Founder’s Grove Nature Trail is a wonderfully fun family adventure. Accessible for those with strollers and wheelchairs and located just off the highway, this inclusive hike attracts adventurers from all around. If you are seeking a secluded trek, then best choose another route, or head out in the early morning to beat the crowds! The grove’s proximity to the highway results in noise pollution throughout your adventure, so don’t expect an overly relaxing experience.
Setting out from the trailhead, this route tracks south along the Founder’s Grove Trail. Immediately leading you into the forestlands, you will be overwhelmed by the scene of the enormous conifers and the lush undergrowth that bound them. Confronted with an intersection at the Founder’s Tree, veer right, beginning your trek around the circuit. Explore the gigantic redwoods that adorn the landscape, and you will soon reach the Dyerville Giant.
At this point, the route will divert you northeast through the grove. Enjoy the scene of the sunbeams dancing in the fog, and you will ultimately be delivered back to the Founder’s Tree and onto the trailhead—marking the end of your adventure.
