The Cal Barrel Road Hike is a wonderful adventure in the Redwoods that wanders through lush redwood groves abundant with a diversity of flora and fauna. This magical trek would make an excellent addition to anyone's adventure itinerary. Note this is a seasonal shared route, so in the off-season, you will likely be sharing the route with drivers, so maintain on the shoulder of the road.
Setting out from the trailhead, the Cal Barrel Road Hike travels northeastwardly into the lush woodlands. Enjoy the scene of the looming redwoods that line the paved route and the prolific ferns that bound them. Gradually climbing through the woodlands, this route will get your heart rate up without over-exhausting you!
We turned around at the intersection with the Rhododendron Trail—but you can continue further if time permits! When you are ready to head back to the trailhead, backtrack along the path.
