Route Description for Big Tree Circle Trail
The Big Trees Circle Hike is an amazing adventure that offers incredible views of the redwoods, packed into one quick excursion! The paths are lined with benches for those overwhelmed by the scenery to sit back and indulge in the grandeur of the coastal redwoods. Note that this route's accessibility, distance, and beauty attract dozens of adventurers daily, so you will likely be sharing the trail! Don’t forget to charge your camera; the views are picture perfect!
Setting out from the trailhead, this hike wanders north onto the Foothill Trail. Follow this path through mixed conifers draped with moss and decorated with singing birds to an intersection. Here, keep left and marvel at the massive tree. Respecting the fence that encircles the Big Tree, you will then veer right onto the Circle Trail. This route will redirect you southwardly, guiding you through the lush coastal forest past numerous more redwoods and enormous stumps.
Soon you will reconnect with the Foothill Trail. Here, turn left and retrace your footing along this path back to the trailhead, marking the end of your adventure.
