Route Description for Nile Creek Trail
If you are looking for a fun half-day hike near Port Alberni that will transport you to a near-mystical setting within the dense West Coast rainforest, then the Nile Creek Trail should certainly be on your list. Setting out from the trailhead, the path enters under the thick canopy of the forest and follows closely alongside the flowing waters of the creek. As you make your way past moss-covered trees and other types of vegetation, you will feel the trail climb slightly uphill. Upon your approach to the falls, this incline will steepen and is often wet/muddy, so plan to wear proper hiking footwear and possibly even gaiters if you are looking to complete the hike in the winter. Once you arrive at the falls, you will be treated to the beautiful sight of cascading waters that flow over the moss-covered rocks and in the pool below. After exploring the area, head back along the same trail to return to the parking area where you began your hike.
