Route Description for Alberni Valley Lookout Trail
Hiking the Alberni Valley Lookout Trail is certainly a popular activity in the Port Alberni area, thanks to its easy going terrain and lovely views overlooking the valley from the top of the trail. Setting out from the parking area, you will initially follow the road to the southeast before it bends around the hillside to the north to take you uphill through the forest. Reaching the viewpoint, you will have sweeping views of the landscape surrounding Port Alberni, with the city, inlet, and nearby mountains within sight. After taking in the views, make your way back down the road to return to the trailhead.
Getting to the Alberni Valley Lookout Trail Trailhead
To reach the trailhead for the Alberni Valley Lookout Trail from Port Alberni, drive northeast along Port Alberni Highway for 1.8mi and continue straight onto BC-4 for 1476ft. Turn left onto Aspeden Road and make an immediate right onto Old Nanaimo Highway, following it for 951ft. Make a left, and continue straight for the next 0.8mi to arrive at the parking area.Route Information
