Route Description for Laguna and Coast Trail Loop
Enjoy jaw-dropping coastal panoramas from the Laguna and Coast Trail Loop. This fun family adventure travels through grassy meadows, over rocky ridges, and through lush woodlands to the fragile shoreline cliffs. Note: the headlands here are extremely fragile and the drop-off is incredibly steep, so respect the signs and remain on the marked path. Elk are often seen in this area; if you do spot one, maintain a safe distance as they can be aggressive creatures. Additionally, be mindful of poison oak and stinging nettles as you march through high brush.
Embark on your expedition along the Laguna and Coast Trail Loop from the Laguna Trailhead. Setting out from here, the Laguna Trail travels south into the wilderness. Not long after your departure from the trailhead, you will reach an intersection and merge right onto the Fire Lane Trail. This path will ultimately deliver you to the Coast Camp, which is located on the headlands. Admire the impressive scenery and explore the ridge before heading northwest along the Coast Trail. This route will guide you along the coastal cliffs before diverting inland.
Now trekking through the meadowlands, this trail will eventually deliver you to the Coast Trailhead. Here, you will turn right and hike over to the Laguna Trailhead and parking lot, marking the end of your adventure.
