Route Description for Mohave Trail
The Mohave Trail is a moderately difficult trail next to the Phoenix Mountain Park and Piestewa Peak. It’s a fairly straightforward hike with pleasant views and it’s generally suitable for strong beginners and active children. Expect a bit of climbing and some loose rock, but overall, this is a quick and fun hike.
There isn’t any shade on this trail, so plan to hike in the cooler mornings if you can and remember to bring water with you. If you bring dogs, consider water and paw protection for them (there are sharp rocks on the route). This trail isn’t very well-marked, so a GPS route is recommended.
From the trailhead, take the route that leads to a 4-way junction. Climb up the ridge, staying to the right at the junction. You’ll crest the small hill, drop down the other side, and then turn back and retrace your steps from the end of the trail.
