Route Description for Coach Whip Hike
The Coach Whip hike leads you through the Thunderbird Conservation Park in Glendale. This park is mostly utilized by locals who live nearby, so it doesn't usually get too busy. The route is mostly relaxed with an undulating nature, but the footing can be tricky. Expect a very rocky trail–you’ll want good boots on for this one.
Remember to pack water with you. Users report rattlesnake encounters in this area, so keep your eyes and ears open as you hike and remember to keep dogs leashed.
From the trailhead, take H1 Trail towards the hill and follow it as it briefly runs alongside 59th Avenue. You’ll come around the other side of the hill and descend through narrow switchbacks. Pass the Hedgpeth Hills on your left and a community on your right. The trail ends where it meets N 51st Avenue. From here, turn around and retrace your steps to the trailhead.
