The 304 and Voaz Loop is a stunning hike that travels through the Phoenix Mountain Preserve alongside the base of Piestewa Peak. With amazing mountain views, tons of impressive saguaros and other plant life, and petroglyphs next to the trail, this is an undeniably worthwhile adventure. Expect moderate traffic and a moderate difficulty level.
As with all hikes in this area, make sure you bring plenty of water with you and turn back when your water is halfway gone. Consider sun protection and start your hike early in the morning or evening to avoid the heat of the afternoon.
From the trailhead, take #304 Nature Trail on the right. Ascend a descend a low saddle, then cross Tatum Wash and bear left around the hill. Keep bearing left until the sharp left turn onto the trail that leads you up and over another saddle. This route then hugs the base of Piestewa Peak. Follow this trail back to the starting point.
