Route Description for Copper Mound Trail
The hike up to the summit of Copper Mound is a scenic route that sets out from the picturesque lakeside setting at the Tenquille Lake Recreation Site and passes through a beautiful alpine meadow on the way up the peak. The trail travels south alongside a creek and gradually climbs in elevation before turning sharply to the west on the steep ascent of Copper Mound.
While it’s a bit of a trek initially to reach the Tenquille Lake Recreation Site, once you arrive and set out on the trail leading up to Copper Mound, it’s a wonderful experience. Along the path, you’ll have spectacular views over the surrounding mountains, including Goat Peak and Tenquille Mountain to the southwest. Make sure to bring bear spray, as grizzly and black bears frequently inhabit the area around the lake.
