Route Description for The Trinnacle Trail
The Trinnacle Trail is a popular walking route in the Greater Manchester area due to its spectacular views and easy access to a number of outdoor activities, such as climbing and sailing. Setting out from the car park, the trail descends slightly downhill to the east to arrive at the edge of the Dovestone and Yeoman Hey reservoirs. Make your way across the dam wall and begin the steep uphill climb to the top of Dovestone Edge. From here, walk across the rugged terrain of the moor to the northeast, taking in the beautiful scenery of the reservoirs in the valley below until you arrive at the gritstone formation known as the Trinnacle. Make your descent into the valley alongside Holme Clough, passing by a small waterfall before you reach the Greenfield Reservoir. At this point, you will continue west along the edge of the water, enjoying some final views of the surrounding Peak District terrain until you arrive back at the car park where you began your journey.
