Route Description for Black Hill & Westend Moss Circular Walk
Walking the Black Hill & Westend Moss Circular is a fun - if rugged - adventure in the Peak District that will take you up over the moor for some spectacular views of the surrounding landscape. Although the route can be attempted throughout the year, it is really more of a fairweather walk for the summer time due to the wet and boggy trail conditions that can slow travel and make navigation a challenge. Setting out from Crowden, head northeast along the trail to make the steep climb up the hillside towards Westend Moss. Here, you will need to traverse the moor to the north, eventually arriving at the summit of Black Hill. Enjoy the sweeping views across the desolate terrain of the moor before setting a course to the southwest across the boggy landscape. Follow along the Crowden Great Brook, as you descend through the valley terrain on the return leg of the journey back to Crowden.
