Route Description for Mill Creek Trail
The Mill Creek Hike offers incredible scenery and a lovely experience. Boasting tranquility, this route boasts the perfect opportunity to reconnect with nature and escape the stressors of the real world. Note sections of the path are overgrown, so long pants might be a good idea. Don’t forget the bug spray and a canister of bear spray! When exploring in the winter and spring, the snow-dusting weather warrants difficult navigation, so make sure you bring the trail GPS.
Setting out from the trailhead, your adventure follows the Mill Creek Trail northeast. From here, you will begin your gradual climb into the woodlands of mixed pines, spruce, and aspen groves. Wandering along Mill Creek, you will be relaxed by the sounds and sights of the babbling water. Mind your footing as you navigate the overgrowth and rocky terrain. After some hiking, you will reach a small pond, and from here, you will begin your final push up to Mill Creek Lake.
Assuming you have a valid fishing permit, you can try your hand at some trout in the stocked lake. Admire the charm of the quaint lake and rest along the shoreline. When you are ready to head back, simply retrace your footing back to the trailhead.
