Route Description for West Newton Tor and Great Hetha Cheviots Walk
If you are in the mood to give your legs a solid workout while traversing some undulating terrain and taking in spectacular views of the surrounding hills, then the West Newton Tor and Great Hetha Cheviots Walk in Northumberland will be the perfect route to do so.
Setting out from the car park outside of Hethpool, you will make your way northwest and into the village, before turning to the southeast to climb the steep slopes of Wester Tor. From here, you will make your way to the southwest to the nearby summit of Hare Law, while taking in the outstanding views of the surrounding hills and the valley below.
Continuing on to the southwest, you will eventually descend into the valley and follow the path as it turns to the northwest in order to climb a small saddle along the lower slopes of Loft Hill. From here, you will make the climb up to Great Hetha for some more views across the valley, before heading downhill towards the banks of College Burn. Following along the water’s edge to the northeast, you will eventually arrive back at the car park where you began.
