The Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle Walk is an amazing seaside journey in Northumberland that will take you to the ruins of a 14th Century Castle overlooking the North Sea. While out walking the trail, you will pass through the charming village of Craster and walk along the coast in order to eventually explore the historic ruins of the castle. This walking route offers the perfect blend of interesting sites and beautiful ocean views.

Route Description for Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle Walk

Whether you are looking to explore the fascinating Medieval past of Northumberland or take a stroll along its scenic coastline, the Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle Walk will be sure to make for an amazing day out on the trails.

Setting out from the trailhead in the village of Craster, you will initially head to the northwest through the village, before turning to the northeast to skirt around the edge of the harbour. From here, you will follow along the coastline as you enjoy some breathtaking views of the North Sea on your right and open farmland on your left.

Eventually, you will arrive at the site of Dunstanburgh Castle, where you can explore the ruins of the once prominent 14th Century coastal fortification. After looping around the site, you will make your way back to the south on the return into Craster, where you can pop into the Jolly Fisherman Inn for some post-walk food and drink.
