Route Description for Silent Valley Reservoir Circular Walk
If you are looking for a rugged adventure in Northern Ireland that will produce some amazing views of the mountains and provide the feeling of blazing a new trail, then you should add the Silent valley Reservoir Circular Walk to your to-do list of adventures in the area.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way north past the Silent Valley Reservoir dam wall and follow the roads as it skirts along the water’s edge. Take some time to appreciate the views of the surrounding mountains and water, before eventually arriving at the Ben Crom Reservoir dam wall.
At this point, you will turn to the west and cross over a stream, climbing uphill across the lower slopes of Ben Crom and changing your direction to the southwest. Here, you will traverse the undulating terrain and make the steep climb up the the summit of Slievenaglogh, where you will enjoy some spectacular views of the nearby mountains and reservoirs in the valley below. From the summit, you will head southeast doen the rugged mountainside on the return into the trailhead where you began.
