The Scrabo Hill via Killynether Wood Walk is a family-friendly adventure just to the southwest of Newtownards, Northern Ireland that will take you uphill to a 19th Century hilltop tower. While out walking the trail, you will make your way through the serene woodland atmosphere of Killynether Wood, climbing uphill towards Scrabo Tower to be greeted with stunning views overlooking Strangford Lough. This is a perfect route for a relaxing weekend adventure.

Route Description for Scrabo Hill via Killynether Wood Walk

If you are looking for a laid back trail that offers a nice mix of tranquil forests, historical sites, and sweeping views over the water, then you should check out the Scrabo Hill via Killynether Wood Walk the next time you find yourself in Newtownards.

Setting out from the car park, you will pass by the beautiful Killynether Gardens and make your way to the northeast, climbing uphill through the peaceful expanse of Killynether Wood. After passing by the clubhouse for the golf course, you will continue on to the northeast towards Scrabo Tower.

Reaching the summit of the hill, take some time to explore the area around the 19th Century lookout tower, before taking in the amazing views that sweep across the landscape and include the waters of Strangford Lough to the southeast. After taking in the views, you will retrace your steps along the trail to pass back through the forest on the return to the car park.
