Route Description for Barnett Demesne Walk
Featuring the historic estate grounds of Malone House, a beautiful Georgian mansion constructed in the 1820s for the merchant William Wallce Legge, the Barnett Demesne Walk is a wonderful adventure that will showcase the beautiful landscape and historic buildings in this part of Belfast.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way around the visually stunning Malone House, which is now used mainly as a restaurant and event space. After passing by the mansion, you will make your way along the winding banks of the Lagan River and relax in the tranquil woodland setting.
As you approach the Mary Peters Track, the trail will turn sharply to the northeast and continue through the beautiful forests of the Barnett Demesne. Keep an eye out here, as many of the intersecting trails are popular with trail runners and mountain biking enthusiasts. After a gentle climb uphill, you will arrive back at the car park where you began your walk.
