Route Description for Rosedale Abbey and Blakey Ridge Walk
If you are looking to experience the charming villages, picturesque countryside, and barren moorland terrain of North York Moors National Park, then the Rosedale Abbey and Blakey Ridge Walk offers a great opportunity to do so.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way to the southwest and pass through the charming village of Rosedale Abbey, turning to the northwest to walk along the winding banks of the River Seven. After meeting up with Daleside Road, you will follow it to the northwest to climb up the hillside on the way into Blakey Ridge.
From here, you will briefly head to the west to meet up with the old Farndale Railway, following it to the southeast in order to traverse the rugged terrain of the moor. Take some time to appreciate the barren, yet beautiful landscape of the moor, as you continue onto the Rosedale Railway and follow it as it skirts along the edge of the moor and overlooks the valley below. Eventually, you will turn to the northeast and descend the steep hil;lside, passing by a golf course on the return leg into Rosedale Abbey.
