A beautifully scenic woodland adventure in the North York Moors, the Dalby Forest Woodcock Way Circular Walk is a great excursion that can be enjoyed by the entire family. While the route is fairly easy overall and is almost fully-surfaced, there are a few sections that can be uneven and muddy. Be sure to wear proper walking boots to better traverse the forest landscape.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will pass by the charming shores of Staindale Lake and climb uphill through the forest to the west. After enjoying the peaceful woodland atmosphere, you will reach a point with some great views of the moors. From here, you will descend through the valley and traverse a rocky ravine, enjoying the stunning views of the surrounding woodland landscape as you work your way back to the trailhead.
Getting to the Dalby Forest Woodcock Way Circular Walk Trailhead
To reach the trailhead for the Dalby Forest Woodcock Way Circular Walk from Thornton Dale, head north on Whitby Gate for 1.4mi and turn right to keep on for 0.5mi. Continue onto Dalby Forest Drive and follow it for 4.9mi, before making a sharp right along the same road. After 215ft, turn right to enter the car park.Route Information
