Route Description for Sun Peaks Loop Trail
Hiking the Sun Peaks Loop Trail is a great way to gain a different perspective on the Sun Peaks Mountain Resort area and make use of its beautiful slopes year-round. As there are a number of hiking routes tightly packed into this area, make sure to bring a GPS or trail map along for the hike to ensure that you don’t stray from the path. From the top of the Sun Burst Express chair lift, follow the trail to the north as it passes through stretches of forest and open clearings before turning to the northwest. From here, the route will cut across some open and more rugged terrain on the way to the quiet shores of the lake. Once there, you can take in the views across the calm water and the rugged Tod Mountain in behind, before heading back along the trail. At the fork, follow the path to the right to complete the loop and make your way to a scenic lookout over the valley. From there, follow the trail east to return back to the chairlift where you began your hike.
