Route Description for Stoney Cross Circular Walk
The Stoney Cross Circular Walk traverses varied scenery, ranging from streams, grasslands, and woods, making it easy to get lost in your thoughts as you take on the gentle terrain. However, this route can be tough to navigate, so it’s wise to download your GPS before going to ensure you stay on the right path. Another thing to note is that this path can get muddy during wetter months, so proper footwear is recommended.
Setting out from your car, you’ll head north to kickstart the out-and-back section of this lollipop route. On your way to the start of the loop, you’ll cross over the A31, following the path as it curves right. At the first junction, you’ll go right to begin the circuit portion of this walk. Revel in the woodland setting of the Ocknell Inclosure before you pass through Ocknell Campsite, a frontcountry campground. The second half of this loop will see you travelling through more open fields. Eventually, you’ll reach the same junction that marked the start of the circuit. Here, you’ll head right to cross back over the A31 to go back to your car.
