Bramshaw Wood is a gorgeous stretch of forest to explore and is easily accessible from nearby Nomansland. This circular walk follows a few of the many paths that weave through the Wood, providing face-to-face encounters with towering beech and oak giants. The Bramble Hill Hotel makes for a unique point of interest; the old forest lodge converted into accommodations for visitors. A lovely choice for a day amongst the trees!

Route Description for Bramshaw Wood from Nomansland

The paths through Bramshaw Wood are circuitous and by no means straightforward—it makes for a fun adventure! There’s no real set way to approach this walk, and it’s best to leave some time for exploring. Set off eastward along paths which roughly follow Wood Bottom Road. This approaches another car park (a good option if the first one is full). Turn right and walk through this car park, taking a path on your right which follows a southeast bearing. Keep left along this path and maintain your direction as the path intersects with two others before crossing a stream. Pass through one more path junction before arriving at Lyndhurst Road. Here, turn right and walk along the road for a quick 100m before turning right onto another path that leads back into the woods.

The next portion sees a marked ascent, so tread carefully if the terrain is wet. Follow this path on a southwest heading, staying left and then left again when you reach a junction of multiple paths. This will bring you out to a road; turn right onto the road, then right again after roughly 200 m onto a track leading north towards the Bramble Hill Hotel. Head around to the left, and when the path reaches a fork, turn left. Stay along this path for about a kilometre, keeping a western bearing and ignoring the many turn-offs (unless you want to extend your walk!). This path will lead you to Forest Road; turn right and follow this back to your entrance point and the car park.
