Route Description for Living Forest River Walk
Hiking the Living Forest River Walk is a fun, family-friendly adventure in Nanaimo that will allow you to experience the natural beauty of the forests and waterways along the Nanaimo River Estuary. Setting out from the trailhead next to the Living Forest Oceanside Campground, make your way east along the wide, well-maintained trail and cross over the small creek. On your left you will pass by a giant iron wheel that stands as a remnant of the area’s industrial past. Continue along the trail as it skirts alongside the flowing waters of the Nanaimo River on your left, with an amazing forested area on your right. Shortly after entering into a thick forest canopy, you will arrive at the end of the trail. Head back and retrace your steps along the river while taking in a few final views of the estuary before arriving back at the trailhead where you began.
