Route Description for Madcap Falls Hike
The hike to Madcap Falls is a simple, enjoyable outing that’s suitable for children and beginner hikers. With a short distance to cover, modest elevation to gain, and a pleasant waterfall to relax by, this is a good hike to add on to your camping trip or to do as its own adventure.
The Madcap Falls hike begins across the road from Cougar Rock Campground. There are three trails that lead to the Wonderland Trail from the road, and you can take any of them as long as you head to your left (northeast) once you’re facing Wonderland.
Cross the Nisqually River and begin hiking alongside the Paradise River. The trail stays close to the river the whole way, and there are no junctions to consider. Hike over gradual elevation gain to the falls. From here, you can either turn around or press on a little further to see more of Wonderland.
