Table of contents

Elliot Creek Trail is an 7.1mi trail in Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest that is rated as moderate. This hike is very peaceful and pretty, and it’s easily doable in a half day. It’s a good hike on a hot day because of the plentiful shade all along the route. We do recommend bringing some strong bug spray for this hike as the mosquitoes can be persistent.

Route Description for Elliot Creek Trail

Elliot Creek Trail is a splendid half-day, cruising through a shady forest to see a waterfall and the surrounding mountains. This is a moderate hike with no significant challenges to note. You can hike the loop either way, but we’ll describe it from upper to lower.

Begin on Elliot Creek Road. There are restrooms at the parking area on the road. The trail splits into the upper and lower trails. Go left for Upper Elliot Trails. Take care not to veer onto Chocowich Mountain Bike Trail as the route lazily winds through a hairpin turn.

Traverse across the slope of the ridge on a very level trail. It’s very straightforward to the point where the trail turns back. There are some creek crossings, which are occasionally dried up in the late summer.

Where your route meets Lower Elliot Trail and merges to Goat Lake Trail, turn onto Lower Elliot Trail to start the second half of the loop. The route hugs Elliot Creek the entire way back. You’ll reach the point where the two trails merge and continue on to the trailhead.
