Route Description for Wonder Pass Viewpoint Trail
With stunning views of the surrounding alpine landscape and a relatively easy level of difficulty, the Wonder Pass Viewpoint Trail is a fantastic option for exploring the natural beauty of Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park. The trail sets out from the Lake Magog Campground and heads to the northeast along the picturesque shores of the lake before bending to the southeast through the meadows and forests below Naiset Peak. From here, you will make your way through the terrain of Wonder Pass while taking in the spectacular views of The Towers and Wonder Peak that flank you on either side. Shortly after crossing the British Columbia-Alberta border, you will arrive at a beautifully scenic viewpoint that overlooks Lake Gloria, Marvel Lake, and the surrounding alpine terrain. After taking in the views, retrace your footsteps through the pass and enjoy the views of the park from the opposite perspective, as you hike the return leg back to the campground.
Getting to the Wonder Pass Viewpoint Trail Trailhead
Although it is a popular hiking destination, Mt. Assiniboine Provincial Park does not feature any access roads leading into the park, severely limiting options for those looking to explore its trails. The only options to make your way in are by hired helicopter or by backpacking via the Mount Shark and Sunshine Village trailheads.Route Information
