Route Description for Hamberg Hike
Start hiking the big road into the woods following the sign at the beginning of the parking lot leading towards “Almluft über Windhag”.
Make a right at the first intersection to stay on the correct path. As you follow this path, there will be a turn into the woods after about 1.5 km.
As you climb through the woods, you will cross the road a couple of times. After another 1.5 km, turn right just after passing between two buildings. Turn right at the yellow sign following the “Hamberg” trail. As you rise the views expand into the valley below.
Continue, it feels like you’re going straight up, crossing the big road twice until you arrive at a small hut called Steinberg Hütte. The signs at the hut lead you around and continuing on this small path will eventually lead you to reach the summit.
Make sure you stay left at the last intersection in the middle of grassland. If you turn right, you will get to a private Hut and will quickly notice that the summit is in the other direction.
The views from the summit of Hamberg are wonderful, and if you have a picnic and the weather is nice, you’ll be tempted to spend quite a while here.
Return the same way, following the signs to Bergrast.
