Route Description for Cozy Dell Trail

Exhibiting the diversity of the area’s flora and fauna, this adventure will not disappoint. Wander through the lush forestlands and chaparral communities along the foothills of the Traverse Range. Those venturing this route need to be mindful of the poison oak that flanks the path—if you are worried about exposure, then wear long pants. Additionally, segments along this path are overgrown and poorly signposted, so we encourage you to download the trail GPS.

Setting out from the trailhead, the Cozy Dell Trail wanders east, climbing up several switchbacks into the woodlands. Mind your footing on the vertiginous terrain, which will eventually deliver you to an intersection. Here, veer left using the trail GPS onto a primitive section of the hike. This trail will guide you up to an incredible overlook of the valley and encompassing mountains. Continue hiking, and you will ultimately reconnect with the Cozy Dell Trail.

At this point, turn left, and hike down to a creek, which marks your turnaround point. From here, retrace your footing west, following the Cozy Dell Trail all the way back to the trailhead.
