Route Description for Aliso Canyon Trail
Leading hikers through meadowlands abundant with wildflowers, lush woodlands, and communities of chaparral brush—there is no shortage of amazing scenery along the Aliso Canyon Trail. Not to mention the incredible vistas of the Santa Ynez Mountains along the way! While the exposed terrain offers picturesque panoramas, it also warrants extremely hot conditions in the summer months, so make sure you wear sunscreen and pack plenty of water.
Setting out from the trailhead, hikers will travel north along the Aliso Canyon Trail up a gentle incline. Soon after your departure, you will confront an intersection. Here, veer right, and the Aliso Canyon Trail will lead you up several switchbacks to the top of a ridge. From here you will be granted wonderful vistas of the encompassing landscape. Admire the mountainous scenery, and at the next junction, turn left.
Beyond this point, the path will lead you down Aliso Canyon bound by craggy walls adorned with chaparral brush. Continue hiking down the steep-walled valley and you will ultimately be delivered back to the trailhead.
