Hiking the Griffith Observatory and Cahuenga Peak Loop is a fantastic adventure in Los Angeles that climbs uphill into the mountains for views of the city. While out on the trail, you will traverse several summits and experience iconic views from atop the Hollywood sign. If you plan on attempting this hike during warmer months of the year, be sure to bring plenty of water, wear appropriate clothing, and sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun.

Route Description for Griffith Observatory and Cahuenga Peak Loop

If you are in the L.A. area and want to set out on a bit of a tougher hike, the Griffith Observatory and Cahuenga Peak Loop is a great option to explore.

Setting out from the trailhead, you will head north through the Berlin Forest, passing by the Tiffany & Co. Foundation Overlook. From here, the route turns northeast to traverse Mount Hollywood on the way to Taco Peak.

Following the trail west, you will traverse the undulating landscape to Mount Lee, where you can take in the amazing Southern California views from atop the Hollywood sign. Continuing west, you will pass over Cahuenga Peak to arrive at Burbank Peak and the Wisdom Tree.

After taking in the views, you will turn back to the east for the return leg of your adventure. Shortly after passing by Mount Lee, you will turn right onto the Mulholland Trail for an alternate route back down to the trailhead where you began.

The starting point for this hike can be found at the Charlie Turner Trailhead on W Observatory Road.
