Route Description for Black Star Canyon Falls Trail
For those hikers in the Los Angeles area who want a bit more of a challenge, the Black Star Canyon Falls Trail is a rugged canyon adventure that ends at a waterfall. Note: there are patches of poison oak throughout the area, so exercise caution. Additionally, the hike is best completed after a heavy rainfall when the falls are at their most impressive state.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will follow along Black Star Canyon Road to the north, before it bends to the northeast. Eventually, you will reach a junction where several paths branch off from the road.
Heading to the right, you will leave the easy-going terrain of the road behind, hiking alongside a rugged stretch of the riverbed that will require some scrambling over boulders. After this you will arrive at the site of Black Star Canyon Falls which, as previously mentioned, is more impressive after rainfall. Once you have finished taking in the views, simply turn back and retrace your steps on the return to the trailhead.
