Route Description for Big Tree Walk
The Big Tree Walk is a fantastic short forest trail in the Benmore Botanic Garden located in Crianlarich, Scotland. The 2.0 km trail unfolds on a forest track that is waymarked and features a steep uphill section. Although the walk is generally family-friendly, it’s likely best suited for older children due to the steep ascent.
California Redwoods, Douglas Fir, and Western Hemlock tower majestically, flanking the Big Tree Walk trail. Following signs for Black Gates, you’ll set out into the ancient woods following the waymarked path in blue. Along the way, you’ll enjoy brilliant views up the glen and on towards Beinn Ruadh, in addition to the stunning forest scenery. The air here is fresh, and you’ll likely feel like you’ve been swept up in a forest fairy-tale while walking. Complete the walk by following the path that leads back through the trees and onto the car park where the walk began.
