Route Description for Big Meadow to Scott’s Lake Hike
The Big Meadow to Scott’s Lake Trail is a wonderful hike near South Lake Tahoe. Reconnect with nature and escape the hustle and bustle of the real world along this trek. Be sure to wear layers and a comfy pair of footwear as the terrain is rocky in areas—known to cause the odd rolled ankle. Additionally, much of the path is exposed, so check the weather forecast and prepare accordingly!
Embark on your adventure along the Big Meadow to Scott’s Lake Hike from the trailhead off Old Luther Pass Highway. From here, hikers will have to cross over the Luther Pass Road before hooking onto the Tahoe Rim Trail. The Tahoe Rim Trail will hike along the curves of Big Meadow Creek and into Big Meadow. From here, the path will wander through the Sierra Nevada Mountains before reaching Scott’s Lake.
Admire the beauty of the shimmering alpine lake and the cliffs of Waterhouse Peak that bound the waters. Retrace your footing along the path back to the trailhead when you are ready.
