Route Description for Scout Scar & Cunswick Scar Walk
The Scout Scar & Cunswick Walk is a pleasant, family-friendly journey in the southeastern corner of the Lake District that is popular with beginner walkers for the easy to manage terrain and fell-baggers for the chance to summit two of Wainwright’s outlying fells. The trail is a double lollipop that can be completed in either direction. Setting out from the car park, head south across the road and follow the short path that will take you to the ‘Mushroom’ lookout atop Cunswick Scar. Here, you will have a lovely sightline that sweeps across the picturesque English countryside. After taking in the views, complete the short loop and head to the north to cross over the road on the way to Scout Scar. This portion of the walk will see you traverse stretches of open farmland and woodland terrain before arriving at the summit of the small fell for some more scenic views. From here, make your way around the loop to return to the car park where you began.
