Route Description for Red Pike & Bleaberry Tarn Circular Walk
Although challenging, the Red Pike & Bleaberry Tarn Circular Walk is a popular trail in the Lake District thanks to its breathtaking views overlooking Buttermere and a number of well-known fells, such as Fleetwith Pike. The trail sets out from the village of Buttermere and heads toward the edge of the lake to the south before climbing up the steep hillside to reach the quiet shores of Bleaberry Tarn. From here, you will continue uphill for a short distance to reach the summit of Red Pike. Follow the trail to the southeast and enjoy the views of the surrounding mountains and Buttermere Lake below, as you traverse the rugged terrain along the tops of High Stile and High Crag. Reaching the last of these peaks, you will descend the steep and rocky hillside until you reach the scenic shores of Buttermere. Follow along the western edge of the lake and enjoy the views across the water, before eventually arriving back in the village where you began your journey.
