Route Description for Osprey Viewpoint & Bassenthwaite Lake Walk
The Osprey Viewpoint & Bassenthwaite Lake Walk is a charming trail that is popular with beginner walkers, families and bird watching enthusiasts due to the beautiful lakeside views and abundant wildlife in the area. The trail sets out from the parking area and initially climbs gently uphill through the forest to reach the Osprey Viewpoint for some pleasant views across Bassenthwaite Lake. From here, you will descend the hillside along Skill Beck and make your way to the shores of the lake for a nice stroll by the water’s edge. After passing through Lakeside Wood, the route will follow along the road to the east to bring you to the Castle Inn Hotel, where you can enjoy some post-walk refreshments while waiting to catch the bus back to the trailhead.

To reach the trailhead for the Osprey Viewpoint & Bassenthwaite Lake Walk from Keswick, drive east on Crosthwaite Road for 0.4mi and take the second exit at the roundabout onto A591. Follow this for 2.6mi to find the trailhead on the right.Route Information
