With a relatively long overall distance and the chance to view historical and natural scenery throughout the route, the Muncaster Castle & Esk Estuary Circular Walk is an amazing option for taking in the gorgeous landscapes that can be found on the western edge of the Lake District. This route will take you from the car park to first visit the extravagant grounds of Muncaster Castle that dates back to the 13th Century, before heading to the northeast to traverse the rugged slopes of Muncaster Fell. After descending the hillside and backtracking through the valley along the River Esk, you will arrive at the Esk Estuary, where you will have some amazing views looking out across the water to the west. From here, a tour along the edge of Ravenglass village will bring you back to the car park where you began your adventure.

To reach the car park for the Muncaster Castle & Esk Estuary Circular Walk from Ravenglass, drive east on Main Street for 0.4mi and make a slight right onto the A595. From here, continue on for 0.4mi to find the car park on the right.Route Information
