Route Description for Ling Fell and Sale Fell Loop
The Ling Fell and Sale Fell Loop is a popular walking route with a variety of outdoor enthusiasts due to the small elevation gains and beautiful views from each summit. Even with the stretches of uphill walking, the route is well-suited for a fun family adventure. This figure-8 trail sets out from the valley floor right in between Ling Fell and Sale Fell, providing you with the option to start with either summit. Assuming you would like to finish your adventure with a closer view of Bassenthwaite Lake, follow the trail to the southwest as it climbs uphill and loops around the summit of Ling Fell. From here, descend back into the valley and work your way up to the top of Sale Fell for some amazing views overlooking the water and surrounding mountains. After taking in the beautiful scenery, continue around the loop and follow it back into the valley below.
Getting to the Ling Fell and Sale Fell Loop Trailhead
To reach the trailhead for the Ling Fell and Sale Fell Loop from Embleton, drive east on Embleton for 0.1mi and continue straight across the A66 onto Wythop Mill. Follow the road for 0.6mi and make a slight right turn, followed by an immediate left. From here, continue on for 0.4mi to find the parking area on the right.Route Information
