Route Description for High Rigg and Castlerigg Stone Circle Walk
The High Rigg and Castlerigg Stone Circle Walk is a popular Lake District route due to its variation in terrain, manageable overall distance, breathtaking views, and access to historical sites. The trail will initially take you north along the foot of the hill before traversing the open farmland terrain on the way to the Castlerigg Stone Circle. Here, you can investigate a site dating back thousands of years that is thought to have been used for astronomical observations and trade. From here, you will pass by Tewet Tarn and climb uphill, traversing Low Rigg on the way to the summit viewpoint at High Rigg for amazing views overlooking the Lake District. After taking in the views, head west to descend the hillside on the way back to the trailhead.

To reach the trailhead for the High Rigg and Castlerigg Stone Circular Walk from Keswick, head east along Penrith Road for 2.7mi and turn left to continue on for 0.5mi. Make another left here, and you will find a small layby on the right in 415ft.Route Information
