The Hawkshead Hill, Tarn Hows, and Trover Intake Loop is a scenic route that is popular with walkers due to the beautiful views of nearby lakes and convenient starting point in the heart of Hawkshead. The trail sets out from the car park and heads to the northwest, climbing gently uphill through the open farmland until you reach the village of Hawkshead Hill. From here, you will head north and make your way through the woodland landscape of the Sawrey Ground Plantation before arriving at the popular walking destination of Tarn Hows. After taking in the views of the charming lake, continue around the loop to descend the hillside on the way back to the village where you began.
Getting to the Hawkshead Hill, Tarn Hows, and Trover Intake Loop Trail Trailhead
To reach the car park for the Hawkshead Hill, Tarn Hows, and Trover Intake Loop from Coniston, drive east on Tilberthwaite Ave/B5285 for 3.5mi, and turn right to continue on for another 0.5mi. Make another right here to enter the car park.Route Information
