Route Description for Cogra Moss Walk
Just because the Cogra Moss Walk is a short out-and-back route does not mean that it is lacking in views; however, the short distance, easy accessibility, and relatively flat terrain make this a popular walk for families and less mobile walkers. Be sure to arrive early enough to secure parking at the trailhead.
Setting out from the car park, the trail heads to the southeast and follows closely along Rakegill Beck, climbing slightly uphill until you arrive at the edge of Cogra Moss. From here, you will walk along the southern shore of the lake with some picturesque views that stretch out across the water to High Hows, Sharp Knott, and Blake Fell on the opposite side. Arriving at a fork in the trail with the steep hillside of Knock Murton on your right, you can either take the path on the left to complete an optional loop around the edge of the water or turn around to retrace your steps back to the car park where you began the walk.
