Route Description for Broad Crag and Scafell Pike Walk
Walking the Broad Crag and Scafell Pike Trail is a great adventure that will lead you up to the summit of one of the Lake District’s most popular fells. Although the terrain here is challenging, you are more than likely to see a fair number of walkers on the trail, so be sure to arrive early to secure parking. Setting out from the edge of Wast Water, the trail will take you through a narrow corridor along Lingmell Beck that is flanked by rugged peaks on either side. After traversing the lower slopes of Great Gable, the trail will climb sharply uphill to the southeast, looping around Great End to summit Broad Crag and Scafell Pike. After taking in the amazing Lake District views, follow the trail to the west as it descends the hillside with some spectacular views of Wast Water on the return to the car park.
