Walking the Barrow Fell Circular is a quick and easy undertaking thanks to the ease of accessibility from Braithwaite and the laidback terrain on the ascent of the summit. The beautiful views that stretch out across Lakeland also help to make this an amazing hike that can be enjoyed by almost anyone. Setting out from the trailhead, the route will lead you to the southwest along the winding banks of Barrow Gill before traversing the lower slopes of Stile End. Reaching a junction at the southernmost point of the trail, you will turn your attention to the east and make the brief climb up to the summit of Barrow Fell for some lovely views overlooking Derwent Water. From here, you will continue along the trail to the northeast to descend the hillside on the return leg of the walk back to the trailhead.
Getting to the Barrow Fell Circular Walk Trailhead
To reach the trailhead for the Barrow Fell Circular Walk from the Scotgate Holiday Park in Braithwaite, head west on B5292 for 300ft and make a slight left on Croft Terrace, following it for 0.1mi before turning left. Continue on for 0.1mi and make another left, where you will find the trailhead in 0.5mi.Route Information
