The Sibbald Flats interpretive trail travels around Sibbald Lake and includes many educational signs. It starts in the central Sibbald Flats Recreation Area, which makes it great for those looking for something quick and easy from a central area.

Route Description for Sibbald Flats Trail

From the central Sibbald Flats Recreation area parking, find the trail signs and follow the Sibbald Flats Trail clockwise towards Sibbald Lake. You will reach the lake after 100 m on the trail. The rest of the trail creates a circuit with beautiful views and opportunities to join other trails and make a longer route. Continue hiking counterclockwise to complete the loop back to the parking area.

Getting to the Sibbald Flats Trail Trailhead

From the junction with the Trans Canada Highway, take Highway 40 for 4.3mi before turning left onto AB-68. Take this road for 9.3mi before turning into the Sibbald Lake Provincial Campground and continuing on to the day use area.
