Route Description for Skull Rock Discovery Trail
The Skull Rock Discovery Trail is a heavily trafficked route within Joshua Tree National Park, and so those seeking a more secluded hiking experience may want to skip this route in favor of a less requiented one. We also recommend doing this hike earlier or later in the day to avoid the often intense midday heat.
Having parked your vehicle, locate the trailhead on the northern side of the road. Take the Face Rock Trail as it makes its way northeast towards a junction in the trail. At the junction, take the western route onto Discovery Trail. After a few hundred feet, the Skull Rock Discovery Trail will veer to the south before arriving at a second junction. At the second junction, take the Skull Rock Nature Trail as it heads east, and leads you to the trailhead.
