Route Description for Eagle Cliff Mine Hike
A more challenging hike, the Eagle Cliff Mine Hike is not for everyone. The route requires you to scramble up a steep shaley section, and therefore requires both skill and a degree of physical fitness. Likewise, parts of the Eagle Cliff Mine Hike are poorly marked, so care should be taken to not get lost.
After arriving at the trailhead, the route begins by following Split Rock Trail north over fairly flat terrain. Once you have crossed a stream that may or may not have water depending on the time of the year, the route veers slightly to the northwest. The Eagle Cliff Mine Hike soon starts to get steep, as the elevation begins to increase. Here, as you make your way up a scree slope, some scrambling is likely required, so watch your footing and be careful.
Having reached the top of the scree slope, the route plateaus shortly before once again steadily increasing in elevation. With this second elevation incline completed, you will reach the end of the route where panoramic views of the surrounding area can be admired. Don't forget to check out Eagle Cliff Boulder house on the western side of the summit. Here, a magnificent house built into and out of the rocks is explorable, and definitely worth the effort. Having enjoyed the fruits of your hard work, retrace your path back to the trailhead.
