Route Description for Black Rock Canyon Trail
The Black Rock Canyon Trail is a popular route—and for good reason! The unique scenery doubled with accessibility attracts the crowds. So, those seeking a more secluded hiking experience should consider less popular routes deeper within the park's interior. In addition, it is also important to keep in mind that the Black Rock Canyon Hike is within a desert environment— bring lots of water, sunscreen, and a good hat!
From the trailhead, head southwest for a few hundred feet until you reach the Burnt Hill Trail. Follow the Burnt Hill Trail southwest through relatively flat terrain until a junction within the path. Take the westernmost route along Black Rock Canyon Trail as it heads alongside a stream that may be dried up, depending on the time of year.
Follow the Black Rock Canyon Trail down to the next trail junction, where the route ends. Take this opportunity to have some lunch, take in the scenery, and hopefully see some wildlife before retracing your steps back towards the trailhead.
