A moderately difficult route, Rush Creek Trail to Agnew Lake Trail leads you through the stunning environment of Inyo National Forest before arriving at picturesque Agnew Lake. Considered to be an excellent route for wildlife viewing, the trail is ideal for intermediate hikers and families with older children.

Route Description for Rush Creek Trail to Agnew Lake Trail

Little to no shade exists throughout Rush Creek Trail to Agnew Lake Trail, so we recommend wearing lots of sunscreen and a good hat to help protect yourself from the effects of the sun. It is also recommended that you wear a good pair of hiking shoes, as the terrain is uneven and rather steep.

Having left your vehicle, follow the Rush Creek Trail south along the western shore of Silver Lake. The trail will begin to incline in elevation rapidly as it continues on its southern, heading towards the craggy terrain in the foreground. After crossing a creek, the route will turn into a series of switchbacks to help you climb the steep terrain.

With the last of the switchbacks completed, the route will deliver you to stunning Agnew Lake. Take some time to enjoy the scenery and maybe stop for some lunch. Then, when you are ready, simply backtrack your steps towards the trailhead and your waiting vehicle.
