Route Description for Red Meadow Resort to Lower Falls Trail
Red Meadow Resort to Lower Falls trail possesses a fair amount of elevation incline in relation to its distance, and is therefore considered to be a moderately difficult route. It is likely not appropriate for beginner hikers and families with young children.
Having arrived at the trailhead, follow the pathway as it makes its way first north, and then veers sharply to the south. Continue along this southern heading, ensuring that you do not accidentally take the John Muir Trail east or west at the first junction within the trail. Continuing on your southern heading, you will pass over a creek as the elevation begins to incline steadily.
The trail will then reach a junction, where you are to continue on along your southern heading, before crossing over a second creek. From here, the trail remains heading south, and you will soon arrive at beautiful Rainbow Falls. Having had an opportunity to enjoy the sights, keep heading south until you reach the smaller - but still scenic - Lower Rainbow Falls. When you're ready, simply backtrack your steps towards the trailhead.
